The Mechanics of Faith
One of the pleasures of living in an area that has a relatively recent--but
not too recent--volcanic history is coming across this mysterious phenomenon.

They harden as they fly through the air and often land in small groups miles
away from the volcano.
Their similarity to the great stone circles, avenues and the dolmens of England
and Brittany.
