The Return of Oannes
Sometimes I draw a concept simply to try to understand what it might
look like and whether there might be a deeper level of contact while
I’m in the act of doing it.
The Oannes, Borosus, the Greek Babylonia historian, tells us there were five
of them, emerged out of the sea (returning each night) to teach and guide the
Mesopotamian cultures in the first millennia BCE. Although he reports of these
creatures some centuries after their appearance, he stresses that they were
very real.
And it’s always been something of a mystery as to how the Sumerian people
gained so many aspects of civilized life in such a short time.
